MedSavers
Pharmacy was created for people who lack health insurance or
whose plans don’t include prescription drug coverage. MedSavers
offers generic medications at savings of 40% to 75% compared
to prices at traditional pharmacies such as Walgreen’s or CVS.
MedSavers
keeps its prices low because it doesn’t have the huge inventory
costs of traditional pharmacies, which must stock large quantities
of name-brand drugs. Traditional pharmacies spread these costs over
their entire inventory, including the generic drugs they have in
stock. Because we don’t stock expensive name brands, we don’t have
those high inventory costs.
MedSavers
also does not accept insurance. At traditional pharmacies, dealing
with insurance companies takes as much as 80 percent of the staff’s
time and energy just to receive payment. MedSavers does not require
additional staff to deal with insurance companies. Insurance company
contracts often force traditional pharmacies to accept very low
profits on name-brand and generic drugs. The pharmacies make up for
those low margins on insured prescriptions by charging uninsured
patients higher prices. Since MedSavers doesn’t deal with insurance
companies, we can make a reasonable profit without charging
exorbitant prices to uninsured patients.
MedSavers
offers its customers the same prescription drugs that are dispensed
by big-name traditional pharmacies. These medications come from the
same manufacturers and distributors and have the same FDA approval as the
generic drugs sold at traditional pharmacies.
Chris
W. Johnson (Owner/Pharmacist) grew up in the Dallas/Ft. Worth
area and moved to Austin to attend The University of Texas at Austin
where he received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1995. He is
a registered pharmacist (R.Ph.) in the State of Texas since 1996.
Through his work in many grocery store and independent pharmacies,
and his experience in oncology, Chris has seen first hand how
traditional pharmacies operate. There had to be a better way…
Chris and his wife,
Bryna, opened MedSavers Pharmacy April 11, 2005. Their
mission is to help people without insurance and people with minimal
insurance to get their medications as inexpensively as possible.
